HARRomeo

It's a GWS F4U Corsair (http://www.gws.com.tw/english/product/airfly/f4u.htm) foam kit. I have several GWS foamies.. bang for the buck you can't beat em! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have to get my "Hangar" rounded up for a photo op. Currently buildng the newest member.. my Hornet 2. Once it's done I'll get them all together.

How well does a Nexus fly?

1heliman
03.02.04, 02:04
DJ,
I really like the Nexus. It flies great. I have modified it a lot! The swash is all metal ball (concept 30 swash) I have eliminated all the "Z" bends for steel balls, tail mounted the servo, upgraded the tail rotor to ball bearing slider, and put in a zeal pitch slider on the mast. The only reason I have stuck to it over a raptor (which is a better heli than the Nexus) is because my LHS has a ton of parts CHEAP for the nexus. I'll upgrade when my skills improve a bit more. It is rock solid in a hover with the mods and a baby in FF. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

My friend has a nexus (first time heli flying,) and its about 6 years old actualy. He baught it as a ARF and its still in the box... We plan on taking her up in the summer and jsut wondering what type of skils he would need. I told him to get a new transmitter and replace all the radio gear. His gyro is HUGE, its this huge black box with like 2 other box things attached to it. Thanks for sharing! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I can show you my hangar, but all of my 12 aircraft are still in a huge box that I used to ship them in during my recent move... :-(

My Eco8 has a LOT of space these days (notice I kept it out of the box? How about that for having my priorities straight!!!)

I just finished assembling my workshop... these photos were taken about 1/2 way through the project. 80 square feet of peg board, and the bench is 10 ft x 30" of 3/4" birch plywood. Supports are 4x4 posts. The 6 bench outlets are rated for 20 AMPs and situated on a dedicated circuit (12/3 romex); the other 3 outlets are 15 AMPs and on a dedicated "computer" circuit.

Above: That is an 80" unhung door panel - my old bench - leaning up against the new bench surface..

Above: That is a 48" ruler on the bench... Also, I sealed the insulation in the rafters with 6 mil plastic.

My Nexus was fine until I stuffed it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif I'm just stuck deciding whether to fix or bin, problem is most of the standard parts are poor and if you go for the Zeal stuff some is difficult to get and you only end up with an outdated Heli owing you a fortune /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The jury is still out here, i've got a couple of Zeal bits but the main bit i need is the Zeal swash which i think is about £85, for that I could almost buy a new Nexus kit locally...

Sorry I did not respond sooner. I stopped getting e-mails telling me when someone post on a thread I posted on.

My fleet is growing at a rapid rate. Since the picture was taken I have added a Logo 20 and my first plane (slow stick). I almost broke down and ordered a nitro machine today but did not.

Here is my problem. I have all these wonderful machines and love to build them and tinker but, I am in a rut and am still in hover mode. I have such a severe mental block with anything other than tail in.
