Well, OK, I can say my shockie flew... kind-of...

1st flight - Mr Toads Wild Ride (Kids ride at Disneyland). Took off in less than 10 feet, squirly as all get out from me not knowing what to expent and overcontrolling. Shut her down, land in the soft grass OK.

2nd flight - Better control, still out of control tho, shut down, land in soft grass (see above) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

3rd flight - OK, I'm ready for anything she throws at me (well almost anything). Take off in 6 feet, no over controlling, let her climb out to 25 feet, start gentle turns, all going very well, smile on face, happy camper, nipples hard, make a few controlled circuits... and... the prop flies off /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Don't stop flying Rick, point the nose down (really tail heavy at this point) speed slows, pull up just before touchdown, nice soft landing /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif Who's yer daddy, who's yer daddy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Hunting for the prop, I discover the entire can pulled free from the stator. I had heard this would happen, that it wasn't a matter of if, it was only a matter of when. Found the stator dangling from the P10 controller.

When it cut loose, it tore off a piece of the nose I couldn't find, so now's the time to order that Depron I've been wanting to have on-hand /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I see gobrushless has shafts now that use a retaining clip, so time to order those as well.

All in all it was a blast, a couple minor setbacks, but IT WILL FLY again /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Hurry up postman, hurry up...

LOL!
That's why mine has a small collet behind the motor..

Collet??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I didn't see that on your website??? Great idea. Alas tho... the shaft that came with my gobrushless GBv (version 1) motors isn't long enough for a collet /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif And their new shafts with c-clips are for their GBx line of motors, which aren't shipping at the moment /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif so like crap /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Upon closer inspection, I see the windings got buggered when it all came apart, so it's a rewind as well. I'm going to order a shaft anyway, to see if I can make it work. I do not want to be doing this every trip to the park /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have an AXI 2208 on the sidelines that I'm putting in my Reno Racer, I may just install it for now to get back in the air quickly. I'm thinking 2208, 947 prop, 2 cell lith should be ok for the stage I'm at.

Having F-U-N nonetheless /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
