Just built a gobrushless.com GBx motor for my shocky, power is pretty awesome, almost ballistic.
It's dual stator, 9 turn, using 2 strands of 26ga wire. It pulls 15 amps with a 947 prop. Unfortunately my E-Tech 3 cell 700man Li-Po is only rated at 10C so I can only test it at 1/2 throttle, sneaking in a few short bursts at full power. I'm going to prop it down a bit to see if I can get the amps down to 12 and still maintain adequate thrust for 3D.
I'm using the new Castle Creations Thunderbird 18A ESC, and although it doesn't have all the programming capabilities of the Phoenix line, it's half the cost and is a perfect match out of the package for shocky's, with auto Li-Po detect turned on and brake off.
Looking forward to testing it soon... it's raining here for the next few days... and it never rains in So. California !!!!
