Can anyone help please. I am new to rc models and have just bought my first heli, a ECO7 Jet Ranger and have not tried to start it yet because the swash plate is well out of adjustment.
I amusing the instructions in the manual but I can't understand what I amsuposed to do, as a reminder I have repeated the instructions below.

I am ok down to

• Set pitch to maximum; wait for “CONFIRM.”

but then I don't know what is meant by

• Pre-select with roll servo (Right, Center, Left)
• Change zero position with forward pitch (full defl ection) until the swash plate stands horizontal and at the
correct height. The center of the adjustment range is displayed with “CONFIRM.”

and I have never managed to get a final confirm whatever I have tried. I am a complete beginner and any advice or hints would be very welcome.
Thank you in advance.

Adjusting swash plate
This operation is useful if the servos have been replaced. With roll (right, center, left) the servo is chosen, with forward
pitch the zero setting is changed.
Preparation:
• Center all transmitter trimmers.
• Turn off transmitter.
Adjustment procedure:
• Plug in receiver battery. LED flashes red.
• Push forward pitch and roll sticks to any side and hold.
• Turn on transmitter; wait for “CONFIRM.”
• Set pitch to maximum; wait for “CONFIRM.”
• Pre-select with roll servo (Right, Center, Left)
• Change zero position with forward pitch (full defl ection) until the swash plate stands horizontal and at the
correct height. The center of the adjustment range is displayed with “CONFIRM.”
• Pitch to minimum fi nishes adjustment and saves the new settings.
After this adjustment the model must be retrimmed, for this purpose erase model trimming fi rst.

Hello Paellaman,

thank you for purchasing this ECO 7 Helicopter. For your convenience it has been pre-tested at the factory. You are now responsible for the correct channel assignment (“programming”) according to your preferences. Please follow these instructions when setting up your ECO 7 for the first time:

When you are using your own transmitter, make sure that you use a single conversion receiver crystal. A dual conversion crystal will not work! Ikarus-USA has crystals for all channels available.

Take off the main rotor blades before you start the Programming. Mark one rotor blade and the corresponding blade holder with a pencil to avoid switching the blades against each other. Remember where the washers are positioned. After you have successfully programmed, put the main rotor blades back on as they were before.

ECO 7 Programming

This is a very important procedure before you attempt to fly your ECO 7 Helicopter.
For 4-channel transmitter set up follow Steps 1 to 9,
For 6-channel transmitter set up follow Steps 1 to 8, and 10 to 12.

1. For the programming procedure leave the transmitter in OFF position.
2. After having charged the flight battery, connect it to the helicopter. The LED on the GigaTronic (look through the right side window) will flash red. Wait until it flashes green.
3. With your thumb and index finger pull both transmitter control sticks together towards the center, pull them down and hold them in this position
4. Now switch on the transmitter; you will get a “confirm” by one tail rotor rotation
5. Release both sticks and leave the throttle stick in idle position (towards you) and you will get a second “confirm” by one tail rotor rotation, release the stick.
6. Move the left stick (tail rotor) all the way to the right and get a “confirm” by one tail rotor rotation, release the stick.
7. Move the right stick (forward pitch) all the way forward and get a “confirm”, release the stick.
8. Move the right stick (aileron) all the way to the right and get a “confirm”, release the stick. Should your transmitter have 6 channels, skip step 9 and proceed now with step 10.
If your radio transmitter is only equipped with 4 channels now comes the last step:
9. Move the left stick (throttle/pitch) all the way forward and get a double “confirm” with 2 tail rotor rotations
Now the programming for the 4-channel set up is done. Continue with instruction “Before ..”

If you have 6 channels on your transmitter, than you need to continue after step 8 this way:
10. Switch the 2-position Flight Phase switch into ACRO position (see page 26 of the manual), get a “confirm” and switch back to NORMAL
11. Switch the 3-position MODE switch into HEADING LOCK, get a “confirm” and switch back to MOTOR OFF
12. Move the left stick (throttle) all the way forward and get a double “confirm” with 2 tail rotor rotations
Now the programming for the 6-channel set up is done. You may start flying.

Before your first flight: Check that the swash plate is tilting to the right, if you give right impulse with
the roll stick (right stick right), tilting forward, if you give forward pitch (right stick forward). If
necessary reverse the particular channel on your transmitter.

Before every take-off: Calibrate the tail rotor by moving the tail rotor stick (left stick) all
the way to the right and hold until the tail rotor confirms with one full rotation.

Next time you want to fly, first switch on the transmitter and than connect the flight
battery. After your flight disconnect the flight battery first, than switch off the transmitter.
Always follow this procedure.

ALWAYS make sure, that the throttle stick is in idle position (pointing towards you) before
switching and before switching off the transmitter.
It is also wise when working on a helicopter to take the main blades off, especially if you are
inside you house.

We hope this first programming and Set up -file will help you !
Much success

and best regards
IKARUS-USA-Team

Hi Webmaster

Thank you very much for your reply. Your instructions are not the same as the manual and I am a little confused. Your instruction No. 2 states
2. After having charged the flight battery, connect it to the helicopter. The LED on the GigaTronic (look through the right side window) will flash red. Wait until it flashes green.
I waited a long time but I could not get the light to flash green unless I ignored this command and went right through to item 9 and then returned the left stick to the minimum position when the light would start to flash green
The other thing that did not work was the later instruction:-
moving the tail rotor stick (left stick) all the way to the right and hold until the tail rotor confirms with one full rotation.
I could only get a CONF by pushing the stick to the left.

I would refer to my original post where I asked for more explanation on how to set up the swash plate and would appreciate it if you could clarify these instructions as I can not interpret them and have not yet found anyone else who can suggest what I am suposed to do.

Thankyou for the information already given and I look forward to your further explanation

Hi Paellaman,

“It is normal, that the GigaTronic switches to green after the programming is completed. It would remain red if i.e. the battery would be low or the programming would not be completed correctly.

The swashplate can be slightly tilted (about 3ş) forward and to the right. This would be normal.

If it is a little more, try to adjust the swashplate by using the trim levers of the respective channels on the transmitter.

If this produces an acceptable result, we recommend to re-program as per instructions on page 30 top respectively the additional more detailed write-up provided recently.”

Best regards
