View Full Version : Weak Undercarriage

I took out my Eco 8 this week having not used it for 2 months.

After a few flights I noticed the undercarriage had snapped. It broke where the cross member bolts to the main frame. I ordered a replacment and after 1/2 hour after fitting the part the same thing happened.

I can only assume with the temperature struggling to get above freezing that the palstic has become brittle.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Hi Sture

Thanks for the reply. That is very cold indeed.

Maybe I am just unlucky or maybe my landings are a bit too hard.

I am going to fit 2 carbon braces between the undercarriage to strengthen it. This should prevent putting too much strain on the undercarriage.

I got the idea from Kurts Heli site http://www.flyheli.de/english/eheli2frame.htmin the tuning section. Great idea.

If your reading this Kurt, thanks for the tip.

Regards to all

I have flown my ECO 8 down to -12 deg C without any problems. I had 15 flights below -8 deg C this christmas including the one above. The piezo electric gyro's manual said it was temperature stabilised down to -5 deg C, but I didn't notice any problems or re-trim problems.
