View Full Version : 6cells for eco8, experience plz
has anyone tried flying the eco8 with only 6 cells, and if you have what pinion have you used, what flight time have you achieved and what is the flying like? The reason i ask is because i have alot of 6cell packs laying around. http://www.ikarus-modellbau.de/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif thanx
Topdop,
Don't waste your time trying to fly on 6cells. It is better that you disassemble the 6cell packs you have and build some 8 or 10 cell packs. You should load test every cell for capacity and make the new pack from cells that have similar capacity. You may find that some cells are damaged and need to be disposed of properly. Store your packs in the discharged state for longer life.
That would be a gr8 idea if i had a charger that could handle 8-10 cells. Sorry to say that my economic situation at the moment isnt at its peak http://www.ikarus-modellbau.de/ubb/images/icons/frown.gif , but if i were to buy a new charger which one would you recomend (prefrebly not too expensive.
Topdop,
I recommend using the AstroFlight 110D Digital Peak Charger, it will charge up to 18 cell at 0 to 5 amps from your auto battery while at the field. If you need to charge at home from the wall plug, you must also buy the Astro Power Supply 12.5Amps@13.8Volts. Top quality equipment but well worth it.

Topdrop,
The Astroflight charger is very good but if you're short of cash, the Hitec 330 and 335 are about half the price. They can both charge between 4 to 24 cells at up to 5 amps off a car battery. The difference is that the 335 has a digital display that shows the battery voltage or charging current.
thanks.
i have now purchased the hitec 335.
BTW thanks for the tips

If u are short of cash u can use the methode we used in our early modelling time:
we used a resistance wire from our fathers car battery. Disadvantage is that u have to monitor the battery voltage or temperature all the time.
