View Full Version : servo mounting

I am at the point in the build process where I am now trying to mount the servos.
Two of the servos (that came with my radio)are Hitec hs-81's, the other 2 are Jr micros which are a little smaller.
I am planning to place the two hs-81's as the control for the swashplate. They will fit in the frame, but they are a little larger than the space provided and I have to squeeze them in which move the frame up a bit.
Will 'bending' the frame a little for these servos cause problem or weaken the structure.
Does anyone know of pictures I can reference for mounting the other two.
This is my first rc project and don't know the slightest about how safely mount them
Thanks

Fenster,

First of all:
If you are using electronical mixing - DO NOT USE DIFFERENT SERVOS TO CONTROL 3 point swashplate. Why ? Because they are of diferent speed. You need to have as sinchronised servos as you can - (same speed, same torque etc.)
For example: When you change collective pitch - the swash plate should move up and down with the same step, speed and momentum in each of three points.

Second: If you squeeze big servo in the frame and the frame bends - it will also crack eventualy. I can guarantee you that at the first hard landing you will crack the frame. It costs money and time.

Sugestion: I use HITEC microservos with metal gear at the moment and I am very much satisfied with them !! ECO 8 responds perfect. On hard landings - especialy when you hit the ground with main rotor (at the begining I did that a lot) the low cost plastic gear servos were broken. I have changed 2 servos before I decided to buy metal gear servos. Since then I have changed none !

In hope you'll se your ECO in the air soon I wish you good luck !

Before you put on longer servo arms, you better check your instructions. Some of the sevos have to have a specific lenthe arm.
