View Full Version : mechanical mixing sucks carnt get it right
dont ask ive got to use mechanical mixing with my FF7 why carnt i get it right set it up to book but when i hover it the tail shoots to the left or to the right its a right handfull yet im setup as instructions i can hold it in the hover for about 5 sec then it goes either way and then fight with it to get it back its either to much left or right and this is a carm day why why why why why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hi baza
The mecanical setup can be a problem. try moving the links in different holes in the servo/rocker arms. May be too much tail rotor compentsation or something like that. Bet to convert to electronic mixing.

Actually it sounds like a gyro problem or pilot problem. Try relazing a bit more. Put on a neck strap and aim the antenna at the ground. Use your first two fingers and thumb on both sticks. The movements are TINY. If thats not the problem check to be sure your gyro is operating correctly. Are you useing a Piezo in the cold air and didnt let the heli sit outside for 20 mins to a half hour first. Piezo has to be same temp as outside. Do you have Head lock gyro. If so be sure to turn it on. In HH mode. Will make it rock steady. Although you should learn with it off. Also could be a Glitch to the tail servo. Move away from houses and get some space between you and the heli about 15 feet to start. And give it a go again. Remember to relax and keep trying, you will get it. Took me a year. But I never gave up.
Good luck
Is it impossible to fly eco 8 with mechanical
mixing, even if one is patient? Of course, a gyro would be used...
George, I will get this fixed yet. For upgrade parts go to www.fxaeromodels.com (http://www.fxaeromodels.com) for the motor go to www.aveox.com (http://www.aveox.com)
No its not impossible. I have one all set up to go with the mechanical mixer. I read your other posts and see that you are looking to get one. CCPM is the right way to go for good clean crisp flying though. Now to answer a few of your other posts. For the brushless motor get the 1010 2y and an EZ 30 speed control with the heli sorfware, And be sure to tell them to time the motor in reverse as it will be in a ECO 8. If you were anywhere near me I would surly show you an ECO 8 flying on Mech mixer. I have PICs but that wont relly prove anything since you cant see the heli first hand. Have fun and get the ECO 8

numbers. This makes the machine impossible to fly.
After correcting that mistake it at least flew .... but was very unresponsive. Inputs of more than 1/4 stick would go unanswered and then would skip suddenly into a large input.
The mech-mixer is very unforgiving and jams easily. The only people I've read about having any success with it are those who use it in the carbon fiber frames because I guess they are tigher in tolerance, stiffer or maybe have less friction.

Thanks guys. Since I can't yet afford a computer radio I am going to give the mechanical mixer a shot. I don't think Ikarus puts out junk. I view it as a challenge; besides, I'm talking simple hovering manuevers for quite a while. Will keep you all posted. My eco is ordered.
i used a ccp mixer instead. i too cant afford a highend radio at this stage. so i opted for the electronic ccp mixer..good results so far.,,but 1 draw back. it does most of the work for you, if you decide to get fancy( which i care nothing for yet) you can always upgrade after wards... it cost me $89.00 an converts to use 4chl radio...ill upgrade after i get better at the hover part. im still in the learning phase...but i love my eco 8 an my piccolo the same...both great birds!!
