Will, the nimh and nicd peak different. If the charger doesn't specify nimh compatability, then you will chance burning the cells. The .9 means it will do a pulse charge or trickle at .9 setting. Nothing to do with the peak detection process. Maybe it will work but you need to find if it can correctly detect the peak of a nimh.

Good luck

it says on the instructions it charges any batteries in the hobby field but it also plays bloody jingle bells(driving the wife crazy) http://www.ikarus-modellbau.de/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif.hmm.hitec cg320 anyone else got one?.

the CG320 specifies 4.8v to 9.6v 270mah-2400mah nicd cells 4 to 8 cells dc to dc chargeing. With this in mind, it seems like a good charger for nicd but makes no mention anywhere about haveing the ability to detect the peak of nimh cells, as mentioned earlier, they are different. I did a lot of searches for any mention on the nimh for that charger, several hours later came to the conclusion that it isn't for nimh cells. Doesnt mean you cannot use it, just use with caution. nimh cells are heat sensitive so a setting at 1 amp or less is safe to use. I use a multiple nicd/nimh charger by duratrax, and at 1 amp it warms the nimh cells easy but the peak hits when the cells get warm. Just an example of when mine hits peak and what settings I use for the nimh packs.

As before good luck if you try it. Watch the heat carefully with the nimh as I have 1 pack that lost a cell and that was at the nimh peak chargeing at 1 amp. Easy to burn them .

Will,

If you want to see a scary charger!!??

Have a look at THIS (http://www.rc-direct.com/Schulze_chargers.htm).

Just remember, DO NOT LOOK AT THE PRICE.

You have been warned!!!

I'm using cheap Dynamite Mega Peak charger to charge my Sanyo 7x720mah NiMH pack. I know for sure this one doesn't peak charge NiMH correctly because I think I vented one of the cells on my first try. When it peaks, the pack gets too hot!! So I don't let it peak and go by the pack temperature now. I unplug the pack when it becomes warm. And this damaged(?) pack is giving me about 5 minutes of solid hover and few more minutes after couple minutes of rest. It can fly for about 10 minutes continuously but half that is in GE. Now I have to think about going to 8 cells instead.

thanks gonzo for your example an experience.
I dont wont will to lose a pack and temp has a lot to do with. The peak is different and when it is correct the nimh does great. Suggested charges per day by most manufactures is 3 after that it is your own discretion.

Hey there!

Probably covered in previous posts, not sure. Quick question:

Thinking about getting a Hitec 24 cell peak charger. Does anyone know if this is going to suit the needs for BOTH Picollo, AND ECO8 battery charging? From what I'm hearing I should have gone brushless and didn't. Too late now as I can't afford that loss. I intend on getting the 10 cell pack for the ECO8 when the time comes as someone recommended. I currently have the Nicad and Nimh 7 cell for the Pic.

I'm sorry, the whole battery area is very grey to me and I'm trying to learn, but until then.... any advice?

Thanks
