Default Off Topic - I.F.O.

I got an IFO about a week ago since my Pic has been down due to set up issues. It took me about a day to build and cover. I ended up getting the full size one so I can use my piccolo packs. With the 7 cell 250mah NiCds, it flys great, loops and rolls are easy and it feels very light. With the 8 cell NiMh 700mah packs, it's AWESOME! Take offs are less then 2ft and hovers for at least 6 minutes from the start of the pack!

I live on a tight street with houses both across the street and next door. I was able to take off out of the garage, hover to the street and perform loops, rolls and inverted flight all in the street! What a cool airplane, didn't know what I've been missing out. I think everyone should at least have one IFO. It's controllable at all speeds right down to slow walking pace, I walked it out of the garage.I flew it up to about 100ft right over our front yard which is about 30'X30', cut the power and held full up......it just slowly sank right to about 2ft when I slowly added power and just touched down in front of me! WAY TOO COOL!

Mini IFO is next!

BTW....I got about 8 minutes on the 7 cell 250Mah NiCds and 15 minutes with the 8 cell 700Mah NiMhs. I also have 10 cell 700Mah NiMhs which I haven't tried yet.

Any chance of a photo?....I'd be interested to see it

I'd like to get one at some stage - but the chances of having calm enough weather over here are pretty slim.

Bummer, I don't have a digital camera.....would have to borrow someone's to post pics. You can check out the website for more info and they have lots of video clips on both the mini and full size.

I plan on getting a mini as well for the front yard since I hear it's so much easier in tighter spaces and it's supposed to be a bit more aerobatic. Like this thing can get anymore aerobatic! You can go from 0 MPH to 15MPH back down to 0 MPH within seconds, it slows down very nice. If you knock the rates down a bit, this is a great trainer!

That looks like FUN!! Will it fly in wind? 'Cos if it does, I've got a credit card with IFO written on it..........

This was taken off their websites FAQ section, hope it helps.

"How much wind can the IFO fly in?
"0" mph wind if flying IFO for the first time 0 to 5 mph for normal outdoor flying 5 to 10 mph for experienced IFO flyers 10 to 15 mph could be asking for trouble BUT if the wind is very steady (like an ocean breeze) it could be fun but be very careful. "

I was flying it in between houses and over tree tops. I got some breezes of 5 to 10 mph and didn't experience any loss of control, mine weighs about 9 or 10oz, so it's fairly steady. I did notice that when I put the 8 cell pack on, it felt and flew a bit heavier to stay. It felt a bit more solid and the speed increased a lot. I had to dail in some up trim to slow it down. It's so cool to drop her in from up high and then pull full up and add power to get her to hover right in front of your face. Too much fun, I hope my pic forgives me for this affair I'm having with the IFO!

Did you see the vidoes while he was flying in the hangar? Our two car garage has a high ceiling and is fairly large, I bet I could fly the mini in there. Oh hell, here comes my credit card out!

I've had one for a while, but its currently busted up. BE Carefull!!!

In a powered dive the airflow over the elevons overpowers the servos and they stall. At which point, she flies right into the ground. If you don't immediately throttle back it is unrecoverable. I've even upgraded to mini servos and it still is an issue.

Also, keep an eye on the pull/pull kevlar thread. Mine broke after a year or so of use.

Crazy fun though. I also use the pic packs (10-15 min flights) and have tried 3 cell lithiums (25 mins +). Way too fast with this much power--Don't Blink!

Enjoy!
