more cpu fan brushless junk...
ok...so at work today I got another CPU fan to see if I could get it to spin off of my 3 cell lithium. when I got home I spliced the 3 wires coming out of it and tried (obviously) to hook up red to + and black to - leaving the third blue wire un attached (this is the signal wire for the cpu to turn off the fan and adjust the speed) to my surprise I got it going but it doesn't seem to have the rpm I'm looking for. it goes fast and silently but just under enough to power a piccy tail . on this motor the windings are wound in one big circle instead of the 4 armature bars like in the other one I opened. this one looks easy enough to desolder the 3 wrapped wires and re-wrap with some heavier armature winding wire. any ideas on what wire to use anyone? does anyone know if I could use the brushless controller out of this fan to run a 010 astro or simalar motor using just a speed controll? I think I'm on to something...brushless tailmotor anyone? the weight of this assembly is 7.34 grams with enough wire to fit through the tailboom. attached is a picture or 2...help me out here folks!
