Default JR to PC USB Interface

I've been looking to get a PC interface for my TX. I know Bert recommends this one on dream models...

http://www.rc-electronics.co.uk/usb.htm

... but at 30 quid it seems a bit steep! Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative for a cable? I want USB, and preferably one that appears as a normal joystick so that I can use it on any sim.

Cheers

Ah.... they want £39

Didn't know that JR runs in a low power mode with a cable..... that's quite handy

I'll have a look at the dummy boxes...

The problem with interface cables is they require your transmitter to be switched on, meaning you might find it requiring a charge when you want to fly. You can get a dummy tx box which doesn't need to be powered externally for a similar price to those cables and it has the same functionality.

Alternatively Ripmax do a Gameport adapter for £25 but driver support for XP is poor.

With JR radios, when you connect the PC cable it powers up in a low power mode. Takes very little battery power to use it in this fashion as it doesn't power up it's transmitter circuitry.

I was going to post exactly the same comment, but I use my JR with Truflite 3D and I didn't know whether this was the same as the other PC interface cables.

I can use the transmitter for about 30 hrs on one charge on the simulator.

Good point, the high end Futaba radios do the same. Your still adding to wear and tear etc though, I was only suggesting that for not much more than the price of the cable you could get a dedicated box saving the hassle.

I used to travel quite a bit and took a dummy tx box with me to use in hotel rooms, I'd not be happy taking an expensive transmitter. They are also alot lighter if your on the sim for awhile and if you drop it then its unlikely to be damaged, if it is you can still fly your real models.

Just suggesting that this might an alternative to cables which could of been overlooked. I personally perfer it.
