The one sided one works fine. The advantage to the two sided one is that it holds the swashplate in one position vertically and keeps it from sliding up or down on the main shaft. This eliminates the need for any spring or tube mod.

The stock ARL was designed to be absolutely the lightest it could be. ALL the parts were designed that way. Back in the days of 4 minute flights, each gram cost about 5 seconds of flight time. Now that we have the greatly improved LiPo batteries, there is less concern for absolute minimum weight.
I have had no success with the stock ARL. I always recommend getting a aftermarket, CNC ARL.

I'm surprised Ikarus doesn't make a double sided ARL yet. I have the CNC from HH. I think there is an even beter one out that's made from derlin, much less brittle, PMP might have it.
