All the ball links on the rotor head and pitch mechanism of my ECO 8 are okay (i.e. not too tight and stiff) except for the four platic balls on the flybar which seem to be too big.
What's the best way to adjust these ....squeezing with pliers or a grinding compound (e.g. tooth paste)seems to be the way to go ???? |

On mine, I have slightly send
the four balls with 800 sand paper with water to smooth them. After I have made a tool with one ball link and a small piece of wire looking like a small handle. I turn this "tool" sometimes on each ball to prepare them. After it was better. Pay attention not to sand too much. There's no way back. Philippe ------------------ philippe.marbaise@belgacom.be |

hi , I use a old ball from any heli with the threads on it and get some wire pliers and put a small cut on them and then put them in a drill and turn them slow and it will shave the inside out till you get what you desire, I read this in amodel helicopter techique,

Cut them off with a razer knife and drill a hole right through the middle of where the plastic ball was. the screws that you use to screw the metal balls to the mech mixer will work fine! I have done this to all the plastic balls because they are junk! They wear out fast that causes to much slop! You want the whole rotor head to be as slop free as possible! All of my gas machines have metal balls! Its the right thing to do!

Thanks for the feedback guys......in the end I mainly used the polish method using toothpaste together with squeezing the ball link with pliers. The combination seemed to work well.
One thing...if you use toothpaste make sure it is reasonably abrasive e.g. a smokers toothpaste. The gel types don't work at all unless you are very, very patient ! |
