I read lots of worries about battery life. I have not heard of anyone working on a power teather. Put a large battery pack on the ground and run a wire to the PICC. For such actions as hover practice that should work well.

been there, done that... it works, but you need to use at least 9 cells to fly the thing, there is significant voltage drop through the tether. also, the heli is MUCH lighter, and although it is nice for learning, it is also very, very unstable.
overall, it wasn't really that useful, I soon went to lipos and never thought about the tether again... |

I used a tether while learning, a 7 cell 1700CP pack that I use in an electric glider. I did leave the Picc's own batttery in for balance etc and didn't get much of a voltage drop through the wires. If you do try it be sure to try and get the wires secured to the model right under the c/g point to give you the best stability and make sure you give the motor regular cooling off periods.

hi
i learned on a teather and something that worked well for me was to have the battery in the middle of the floor and the teather shorter then the distance to the nearest wall , saved a lot of crashes , on the downside you have to be carefull not to get tangled on takeoff |
