Default is there anybody still here

Wow, guess I shold got into my Piccolo when I first got one many years ago, well Ive got another now, and thought i,d come here for a chat bt no one seemsto be here, also lots of threads seem to have been deleted, looking at some of themit seems the moderaters got heavy heavy handed with some users, what a shame, as we are all customers and all like the piccolo, oh well I guess I shall just trawl what old posts still survive to try and glean any information I can.

Hi Blue Dolphin, glad to see I,m not alone, having read the posts previous I thought I might be the only person still flying the Picc, well I say flying, I,m now without training gear, and have done a slight modification to my swashplate to iliminate the slop, I got a bic biro spring cut it in half, put half under the swashplate and the other on top of it, well let me tell you how stable is the little Piccolo now, happily hovers albeit a little wobbily due to my inputs, ive only been doing this for three weeks now, in my living room 10ft by 12ft max, with the magnetic furniture that just attracts the little piccolo so easily.

Default I'm still here too!

Well - thought this would be a dead forum. Been flying the 'real stuff' since 2002 (PPL fixed wing, aerobatic qual, C150 Aerobat owner). Moved house and found my heavily modified Picc. I was a big contributor to the forums years ago until the mods came down hard (can' even remember why!)

Wonder if it will still fly. Lipos now of course...

Of course it will still fly mate, Ive just got myself a Piccolo V2 off ebay, never used for £18.80, not a bad deal, just having snags getting the tail rotor set up, as I dont seem to have enough power going to it to stop the counter rotation, I will carry on though, I reckon its the small tail rotor itself thats the problem not giving enough thrust.

Just you & me on here then!?

Have you tried Lipos yet and what capacity size? I have just bought a 2m electric glider and the 400 size brushless outboard has a tiny 1000mah 7.4v Lipo that is probably lighter than my 8xAA NiMH's!

Ive borrowed a couple of lipos from my neighbour, 7.4v 1100mah, they were lasting me a good 45 min of hopping around, but now i,ve got the hang of the hover they are lasting me around 15mins, I know that hovering uses up loads of power so i,m not to bothered about the shortened flight time, I might also have semi buggered up the lipos as I was using them like I would the old nicad packs off the buggies, running them right down then charging, i have now learnt to stop and re charge as soon as i notice a drop in performance.
Theres plenty of batteries on ebay, i,m looking at 11.1v lipos at the moment, its just the weight that might be a problem as they weigh in at around 150 grams, where as the ones i,m using now only weigh 54 grams, might have to look further for lighter ones though.
My advice is give the lipos ago you wont regret it, if only for the amount of time it might take to trim the picc up before it gets off the ground proper.
