Default Yet another seperates question

I've got 2 piccolo's, one FP & one CP....both have Orions in - Due to a nasty crash I now have only 1 piccoboard, it's going to cost me £112.48 to get it replaced in this country - I also have the option of sending it to Paul as well......neither of these options are going to be particularly quick.

So.....this leads me onto thinking about seperates, what is the best combo for an Orion?....tail control is obviously an issue - I guess it'll need HH......I'm not sure as yet which piccolo the seperates will end up on - they'll start out on the FP, but I might put it on the CP if it all works nicely.

Any thoughts & ideas welcome.

Thanks

Soundman

I believe so....I think it says in the cp manual that you need it - thinking about it, yes you do. If the motor is going the same speed & you change the pitch, the torque will change - the normal gyro won't sense this....the HH will.

Looks like you need to buy a new blue baby

I'm just about to order a Pic Pro from Germany, Haven't got any radio gear yet, do you recommend seperates? What do I need to get? Is it seperate ESC for Main & Tail, Gyro + Heading Hold Module. Plus servo's obviously. Thanks for any replies.

Hi
Im not questioning anyones knowledge as im new to the piccolo.
But i am interested in this topic as ive only got the normal piccoboard not the plus and i know it cant have the HH module. However when reading articles and info on the CP upgrade i believed (and i could be wrong) that the HH module was a recommended addition to the CP upgrade as well as the autorotation gear but not essential to use the CP.
Is this true? I really dont want to have to pay out for a new piccoboard plus.

no you do not need to have it - but it depends on your setup. If you go with the orion and esp. in combination with Lion or Lipolys - yes you need it

Hi Guys,

I haven't read through the whole thread in detail, but...

You should be able to compensate to torque changes via the revolution mixing facility in your Tx. Sure heading hold will do this for you, in which case you disable revolution mixing in your Tx, and with a good gyro it works extremely well.

I used to use revo mixing on my CP Piccolo and to be honest it was a sod to set up, but it did work. The HH module for the Picco-Board is a better solution as it is very simple to deploy and has almost no set up. A seperate HH gyro should be just as easy to integrate.

separates is a tough call these days since you can get a new piccoboard for $80. If you do go separates and you want the easiest setup with no headaches whatsoever get the GY-240. The esc to get for the orion is the jeti 05(recommended by manufacturer).
