I recently broke my landing skids flying my Eco. I'm sort of tired of purchasing the weak Ikarus skids. I'll be honest, I have not bothered in looking at other threads, but does anyone know where I can get some better skids that are durable and can handle the load of an Eco.
I've seen some Ecos with alum. landing gear and some with carbon gear. Where can I purchase some? Thanks for your assistance. j |

I've got a set of the Ikarus extra wide gear that has quite a bit of give in it and should be pretty hard to break. It was about $20 complete with skids.

J.... I to have heard that the extra lg. landing gear for the eco-8 is supposed to be very strong, though I have not tried it on mine.

The ECO 16 gear are a perfect fit, they are wider and taller..
They also have a nice spot to drill your hole for the boom support rods, unlike the stock gear with the tail boom support hole seriously weakens the entire support, and they can break by just breathing on them. There is a raised spot on the top of the gear that doesnt have the stress on them like the stocks during landings. Also makes a great spot to mount a stiff tube to run your rx antenna through If i get a damned digital camera for xmas!! maybe i can finally post some pic's of my beloved eco setup =) hehe |

Thank you for all of those great suggestions and recommendations. I will give the ECO 16 Landing gear a try.
I've seen some helis with the Carbon ones too. Are those custom made or can I obtain them from someone. Again, thank you for your comments. Happy Holidays!!! jj |

My Eco's have skids and struts from JR Voyager Electrics. I made up some spacers from some scrap plastic and they have proven to be MUCH more sturdy than the stock gear.

Hm, I tried the extra-wide gear. I have to give them a thumbs down. They were too springy and saggy and I just didn't like the looks of them that much. I made them stiffer with some CF, but still....
What I ended up doing is using the gear from a Century Hawk. It's actually a nice size for the Eco and is very strong. It's cheap too. Requires a little bit of modification to attach to the Eco frames, but it's very easy to do... -edg- |

Edg,
Do you think you can provide us with some pictures of your modification? Greg, A picture of the Voyager modification will be nice too. Someone else email me and also stated that the Extra Long Landing Gear easily breaks. Thanks. jj |
