I have untold agro getting my SuperNova to charge my NiMh packs sucessfully. Here is the story...
Run the Pic down into GE, I now assume my pack is now down to 100Mah? and low voltage? Let it cool a bit bung it on the SN set for NiMh/7 cells/700Mah/0.7A hit the charge button, it charges for a while and then stops having put in 68Mah so I then try a cycle pulls out a shade under 200Mah and puts back in 90Mah. I've now got it running at 0.1A and its put in 35Mah been running for 14 mins charge voltage is 9.476 and 5% charge. Is this just a fact of life and I can only charge these packs dog slow? I thought you could go up to about 1.5C? Is it just false peaking? How do you other SN users get on? This is my 3rd one, 1st went bang, second just kept giving input over voltage alarms even when my volt meter confirmed it was in range! To say I'm hacked off is an understatement What else is there that does the same sort of job? PS It charges my Eco 8 NiCds fine |

I just got a ultramat 5 charger. It charges my 7 cell 720mah Nimh pack in about 55-60 mins. I know it is slow but I can get about 15 mins of fun.

I am now on my second Super Nova, and also sometimes have trouble charging my Nimh's. BUT it doesn't do it all the time or with the same pack I always cycle the packs after I fly ie discharge then charge. If anyone has any ideas post it here (please)

I have found that short leads fixed false peak problems.
My charge leads for my Pro are about 15cm and I don;t have a problem on an of three batteries. I used to have a problem on an RX pack with a 100cm lead. I shortened it and the problem went away. Just a thought... |

Good thought, my charging lead is around 45 cm long
I will alter it to about 15cm and see if it makes any difference |

I've recently got one and so far (touch wood) it has been charging my 7 cell NiMH pack fine...seems a bit odd that you are not having any luck at all, are all the contacts ok etc that you are linking the pack to it with ?

I recently read that if you connect the charger to the cells before connecting it to a power source, ie. Car battery, it damages the charger, Not sure if this is any help.

you will certainly get more of a voltage drop etc through a long lead so this may be the cause...

I'd imagine that if you're using a poor quality cable, that'll also contribute as well.
