Default pivot plus

Not to stay stale in my old age i have done the ball link mod to my old swashplate .
http://albums.photopoint.com/j/Album...615&a=11421972

I was lucky enough today to be given a ball link that was perfectly adaptable for this mod.

I had to drill the ball out to 3mm and cut the arm of the link ,i then mounted what was left of the ball housing on the smooth end of a drill and on my drill press and with a sanding block(i did not wear gloves)i ground it down to the diameter of the inside of the swashplate wich had been drilled out to 6mm.

Then i caed the housing into the swashplate and refitted the ball. The pivot action is perfect and at the right setting inside the swash to not effect anything.

Have yet to try it out in flight as i am still waitng for a tail motor but it is nice and smooth in its movements and although not completely friction free im sure like most people have said it is only minimal

I know we seen more swashplate mods than hot dinners lately but the more information provided makes it easier for people to research it later if they choose to do it

Vince cant tell you much about the flying time till my tail motor turns up but in a dry run set up on my chopper with the blades spinning and operating the cyclic i am getting very crisp response but then again i also have the gonzo v3.0 arms fitted as well and they have tightened things up also i have also noticed from the arms that when you wobble the chopper in your hands with the blades spinning the blades do not wobble as much as with the stock plastic arms, they come back to nutural alot quicker.

Will,

Nice to see that you have joined the ball gang.

I am surprise that you haven't mad a tail motor out of rubber bands and a BIC by now!!

How long is it now 4 or 5 days with no flying. Why don't you hold it up by the tail and pretend it is flying. You know blades chopping, wind in your hair.... Errr, now I have lost it??!?!!!
