Here's the low-down . . . . My FP Piccolo's main blades are starting to look a little tatty so I've decided to replace them
I've read a few posts which indicate that Hornet cf blades perform better than Piccolo blades - do they? I'm currently running an Orion on 7 x 750 cells and am happy with the duration and response I have right now but would welcome more of each - would Hornet blades provide this? Tony |

I've been flying hornet CF FP blades on my FP setup for about a year now. Have been really happy with them. The flight duration is good, the control is good, the headspeed is much higher from stock blades, and slighly higher than cut blades. This is a good thing for people who fly orion motors, not as great if you still have a stock motor, but should be fine if you change gearing. They do take crashes well. I have nicks in my walls, but not in my blades. The only scars on my blades came from scrapeing across concrete (parking lot) as I was attempting to recover from a near-crash situation. Installation is easy. I mounted my blades in the stock holes, on top of the rotorhead (rathor than underneath) with 4-40 screws self-tapped into the plastic of the rotorhead. The blades are spaced away from the rotorhead with small washers. This allows clearance for the twist of the blades, and if you use nylon washers, also allows easier flapping back and forth. All in all, I have been happier with these blades than any other upgrade I've given my heli, with the possible exception of the Orion motor. I have wanted to replace my orion with a hacker brushless, but never wanted to replace my blades with anything else.
Got my blades from Here (helihobby) Oh yea, They look good too! Good luck, happy flying |

Hi danielj,
Thanks for your response. So there are no disadvantages then - that's good. I could use a little more head speed as any extra stability is always good to have. But I must admit its the looks that attract me most right now. Thanks also for the info re installation, great Anyone else for or against? Tony |

Hi Tony
Not used the Hornet blades yet so can't comment on them. My best are a set of Rob's carbon blades cut down. High headspeed, great stability, low coning angle and fast responce. You going to Hartlepool on the 22nd ? I'm hoping to get there work permiting. Paul |

I will add my two sense. I just got the MS CF FP blades about a month ago and I love them. Rock solid hovering. Headspeed way up contributes to this i am sure.
I was worried at first about breaking off the mounting tabs on the root, so I did a couple of test's . Dented a steel tube chair leg, but they did not break or chip. ( do not try this at home kids ) I am sold on them now. |

Hi Paul,
You're lucky to have a set of Rob's cf blades - wish I'd got a set when they were available, they are v-good Hartlepool isn't in my area of operation I'm afraid. Have fun there! Tony |

Hi Qema,
So that's another "Yes" to Hornet blades. I can see I'm going to have to get some. Thanks Tony |

I just ordered the blades at helihobby - my my, why did I ever get into this hobby.
Could someone tell me if this would help to fix the blades? |

Luap,
I take you want to use them for blade inserts to neck them down for the screws to fit. I did something like that also. |

In regards to coning, is it easier to hover with less coning ? I thought that you needed it to assist in hovering. I made a head stiffener, but have not put it on because of this.
