Default Opinion on GWS gyro

Hello.

A guy here is selling a GWS 03 gyro for a good price. I notice that several people here have it and was wondering if it is worth buying (he is asking about £20) - it doesn't have heading hold but is that necessary for a picc pro? I currently have the pb pro with HH but as others have pointed out it's not a real HH module. Am thinking of going separates at some stage but would like to build up the parts required to do so over time.

So can anyone recommend the gyro?

Ta

The gyro is a perfectly good gyro, I used one on my Pro for a while, but if you're thinking of going separates you really want one of the CSM heading hold gyros from Anks if you can afford it.

I agree for non heading hold, I am pretty sure it's THE standard for Piccolos

I am also thinking about getting the HH one from Anks for my Pro. I have started flying it outside but not yet attempted a circuit. I will need all the help I can get

Regards

Jerry

I don't how I feel about my PG-03 sometimes it seems to work but other times my tail just takes off to the right (heli spins counter clockwise) out of no-where. other times I'll have a good 5 minute flight and nothing happens?!?! I don't know how much that is in US currency but I paid $50 for mine and so far I'm not to happy with it. I just found out paul g found a byro that fits the piccoboard pro again so I'm getting my pro board repaired. I remember when I first got my piccoboard pro..it work awesome! I never even had to deal with the tail being out of place at all! sure helped when learning to fly and I was even doing quick tailwhips (360's) but I would never even think of trying that with the PG-03!!! not in a million years I gotta get a new gyro! I have tried mounting it different, moving wires around to see if "noise" was the problem...and nothing still does it. it also makes itself un-adjusted after a flight. it has been like this since I got it and the more I think about it the more it bugs me.

Thanks but I seem to have received your post a bit late - bought the thing a few hours ago. Anyway I will try it out when I go separates and if it is no good, will sell it and get an HH model.

Thanks anyway.

The PG-03 is a fine gyro, just a bit large for the Piccolo. You will find that a lot of people use it on larger helis like the Eco 8. However for £20 its a good deal (about 2/3 the RRP).
