Default CP Upgrade

Hi,

I have a stock Fun with 4 channel TX and normal picoboard.

What do I need to do to upgrade to the CP version?

Do I need a picoboard plus? Extra Channel?

Only I broke my swashplate and it'll cost me £60 to get another (alu) and I think the CP conversion kit has a swashplate in anyway?!

Thanks,

Chris.

p.s. Anyone know the cheapest place to get an unbreakable swashplate? I'm running out of money already!!

What's up with the broken one Chris? It may be repairable.
How much heli flying have you done? If this is your first heli and you aren't bored with it yet it's worth sticking with fixed pitch a while . The CP is a bit more likely to explode on impact.

Oops I forgot, yes 5 channels/heli radio to mix the throttle and collective together, and an extra servo. The receiver might upgrade to 5 connectors by soldering in the extra plug.

I slightly disagree with JJ - you can (according to instructions) fly the CP pic on 4 channel using a Y cable to split the signal to the pitch servo and main motor ESC. However both will be linear and you will have to fine tune the physical pitch settings to make it work well.

Ideally a heli set where you can seperate the channels and mix them at different points is ideal. Older "heli" sets (such as the Futaba 6H) would be ideal. However a moden TX with all the options of Pitch and throttle curves would be the ideal bet.

The other thing to mention (which JJ has stated) is that the CP pic is much more fragile and with a high head speed, will not take the knocks a stock FP Pic will.

Tom,

In a valient effort to join the IAF I ended up taking a hit from my Eco (have a look Here ) - Radd therefore awarded me with my purple hart medal

I will leave it alone...But I would expect Radd to know the true meaning of the medal. It is not something which should be taken so lightly or mocked...not even on a toy forum. This is just an opinion and not directed at you...Tom

Point taken - I'm sure Radd, Bert and anyone else don't wish to offend or upset - If people feel strongly about it I'll remove the image.

I would say keep the image...that is what a free world is about. Sometimes I take things personaly and should not. I know too many people who have received the medal...I just want to keep it in the place of Honor where it should be kept...to include for the the ones who received the medal I didn't know. I do believe there are medals in all countries which signify the sacrifice and the debt owed to the individual recipient...So I do not mean to cross country lines with this opinion.
I would also offer to Radd...a "Paper General" is just that...toy helicopters, wings etc do not compare to the real thing...Just an opinion as usual...Tom

Tom,

I understand and have started a poll to see if others feel the same way. We have a similar medal over here in the UK for galantry which is awarded to men and women in the forces both alive and those killed whilst performing above and beyond the call of duty.
