im just wondering how many amps and volts the piccoboard can take.
i have two sets of batteries. the origional picco pack it has 7 cells and they are 250mAh each and 1.2v each. the other pack i have is an 8 cell sanyo twicell 700 pack these are 1.2 v each and are 700mAh each (i think?). i have been looking in a copy of the maplin catalogue and there are lots of the AAA batteries. so i was thinking of making my own pack and just wondering how may batteries i can use as not to overload the circuit board |

NiCd packs are best when you use 7 in a pack
MiMH packs are best when you use 8 in a pack The reason being is that the NiMh can't produce as much current as the NiCds, so you must use 1 cell extra. You get longer flight times with the NiMh, because they have a larger capacity. The best advice, besides the #cells to use, is to experiment. Buy a few different types of batteries, and make packs. Whatever pack is best, use. The piccoboard should handle 7-8 cells with no problem. But don't use 9+ cells because the extra weight will make the motor work harder and the piccoboard might fail. Bottom line- 7-8 cells |
