Default FP Piccolo 1 Month on !! (Vid)

Well today marks my 1st month with the FP Piccolo Fun !!

I’ve learned a great deal, mostly from the forum and sites linked from it and I can see where the ‘fun’ in Piccolo Fun comes from :-)

It’s cost a bit more than I’d hoped (bet I’m not alone there), but not all of it was repairs, there are quite a few upgrades. So far:-

Repairs

1 x tuning blades (set - replacement for cracked upgrade set)
3 x tail rotors (1 still useable as spare with a small crack)
2 x flybar links
2 x landing skids
4 x landing struts/legs
2 x standard hub
1 x metal head bearing (I had upgraded from plastic, then lost one)
1 x plastic pinion (stripped)
1 x main motor gear (flattened teeth when stripped plastic pinion)
1 x rotor head (went loose on bearings, shrunk it with hot water-kept as spare)
1 x Tail Motor
1 x AR link (original still alive, but rather twisted)

Lots of glue etc…

Upgrades / Mods

Ball bearings for tail / mainshaft / rotor head
Steel blade bolts
1 x tuning blades (set)
1 x G310
Pinion set (plastic)
1 x extra battery (lots more, but they were all replaced and I now have 2 batteries that work)
Pro Paddles
Home-made, stainless steel welding wire, landing gear.
Home-made head stiffener (made from ½ a tail rotor, a length of CF landing leg and some heat shrink)
Ball in Swash
Aluminium Head
CNC AR Link

I’ve really enjoyed trying to learn how to fly the little Picc and been suitably miffed when I was grounded, waiting for spares. The flight Sims (Easy Fly & FMS) are not accurate (too easy) and no substitute when there is no wind and your grounded !!

Well, this video was shot last night, so here’s where I’m at after 1 month.

Video ( .wmv / 4.23Mb / 2mins 34 )

Not sure if that's par for the course, behind or in front - but I'm enjoying the ride.

After a month I think that is excellent progress. How many times do you fly in a week ? every day ?

The begining is like watching wimbledon lol

good control through the archway.

All in all a good video and excellent progress after only 1 month.

Regards

Jerry

Thanks Jerry

With the exception of waiting for parts, I fly most days.

Sorry about the 1st bit - the garden is a bit narrow so other than hovering I haven't the guts for much else but fly-up (15 love), turn round, fly back(15 all) etc etc.

Nice going - very steady looking! - glad to see another garden as narrow as mine being flown in!

Thats great progress there for a month. I'm two weeks into my love affair and about six weeks behind your level of flying LOL

Your list of replacements and upgrades looks strangely familiar
