I'm contemplating using a Hitec 5245 Digital servo with the GY401. Has anybody tried this. Alternatively, I'll just go ahead and use the tried and true Futaba S9253. The only reason I'm thinking about the Hitec servo is to save the 17g over the Futaba.

I am using the HiTec 5125 slim wing digital on my ECO tail. The 5245 is pretty hefty at 32 grams.

The Futaba is even heftier, but is over twice as fast as the 5125.

So far the 5125 is a bit too fast. I was using the outer most hole on the servo arm to the second outer most on the bell crank. The pirouette rate was a bit too scary. I had a hard time doing a normal circuit without an unintentional pirouette at the ends when I turn around with roll and yaw input. I had to use the second hole on the servo arm and the outer most hole on the bell crank to tame the rate. I wish there is a digital servo the size of the HS 81. |

Price is not the problem, getting one is. I sent email to both the dealer in the US and Volz direct. I have been told that they have a hard time getting the amplifier board for the Speed Maxx. It will be a while more before they are available. |
