Default How to stabilize the tail with a PB

Here's how I made my tail immensely stable using a PB+ with the HH module:

1) Seperate esc/gyro board from rx board.

2) Mount esc/gyro board to the side of the main mast. I mounted mine on the port side to the servo and mast with some foam tape. The gyro element is behind the servo, and the adjustment pots are just slightly above it (both on the starboard side).

3) Mount rx wherever you want. I put mine on the "tongue" with the servo pins facing upwards.

4) Enjoy your new stable tail.

The drifting center point that I had is all but gone and the tail holds exceptionally well. Added bonus: you can get to the adjustment pots without removing the canopy.

My theory on why this works is that, first, being close to the center of rotation is obviously better for the gyro's sensitivity. And second, the piezo element is sensitive to vibration and the tongue isn't very stable. So after flying for a while, the vibration causes the gyro to loose its orientation.

(I saw this somewhere, and figured I'd try it...to whoever/wherever posted originally...thanks!)

I've had troubles- and still do!- with my tail. Sent my pb off to J Perkins dist. and they found nothing wrong with it. I think i just might give this a try.........
Will let you know of any improvements.

I recently did the same thing on my Pic. Makes a world of difference! Honestly, it felt like an entirely different heli.
