Default why go pro?

What are the main advantages / disadvantages of a CP compared to a FP, for a basic beginner pilot (abilty to hover around, side in, small 8 figures, no 3D flight)?

For learining to hover, side-in, nose-in and basic
FF I would very much recommend a FP. If you wanna
improve hover stability of FP increase the RPM and use
cut or hornet blades, make a longer fly bar.

After you get over this on a FP you are ready to build
a CP but remember, every crash on a CP heli will be
probably quite expensive (usually broken blades, bent
shaft, ...)

PS: I just started to learn to fly with a CP and I can
tell you that everything new I first try on a FP and
after mastering it I take to FP ...

OK, I almost forgot. There is one advantage of CP over FP
for a beginner: CP can fly outside even with some
wind, FP only in calm whether ...

I still crash from time to time as my flying space is quite limited...
But then again, I usually crash when I'm trying to do something stupid, like landing in a small spot on a table or something, which I probably won't be doing with a pro picc unless I really master it on my FP.
Never been outdoors yet so I can't really judge outdoor stability in light winds.

The thing is i'm trying to get a friend of mine to go for a FP picc and he's really getting interested. He was wondering if buying a pro would be a good investment on the long run, considering that he could learn the basics on my FP. And then we could switch birds from time to time.

From what you say (especially the financial part!), I don't think it's a really good idea...

Thanks for the info

DITO That. ME crashs Pro today! LOL

I have had a few crashes in the past which ended up with a simple glue here and there. This time it was from altertude and at speed, oh yeh not forgeting the inverted bit! I basicly switched to a Idel Up which was not INH on the tx so im gessing the TX goes automaticly to standard idel, this ment no flying inverted for me! DOH

I know need a new chassie but apart from that every thing else is good! tail boom did not snap for once! and to this day i have still not bent a shaft!

saying that i tort my self on a sim and went prity much straight to Pro! lernt to hover nose in a FF and im know trying loops, rols and stall turns. I must remeber to use Ideal up tho!

id say stick with the fp, having gone to pro and back id say the fp models are much more fun. the simplicity, crash resistance and low low cost meens you can be silly and realy have fun.

I actually find myself agreeing with Opiate on this one. I love my FP, if I only had one heli it would be my FP. It's more of a toy than the CP; the CP is like a woman, it needs care, attention, grooming, upgrades, and then just when you think it's all sorted it goes and loses its temper and you're back to square one. The FP can just be chucked in the air after a quick tweak, crashes can be repaired in a minute or two, and you can fly it indoors when it's cold outside. CP machines are nice to fly, yes, but they're too much bloody hassle and there's too much faffing involved for it to be true, unfettered fun.

And yes, you can be silly with a FP (remember when I landed it in the boot of the car?)....

So what your saying Bodge is that you prefer the tough, rough, stable characteristics of...well....erm...a man?!

I said the CP is like a woman, I didn't say the FP was like a man.... It's more of a pet cat - very little trouble and plays with you when you want it to. The CP has all the bad characteristsics of a woman and it won't have sex with me.
