2 cells only on the Orion.
3 cells will kill a normal Orion very quickly.

IMHO. forget the Orion
put the money away and save towards a brushless instead.

A three cell pack IMHO is best. You wont need an Orion with these.Bags of power. The two cell in my experience , only gives a very docile "half baked" performance. However with the three cell pack you will need a more powerful tail motor. Most use the GWS one with the grey end bell. You will need to swap over the tail pinion though.

'In My Humble Opinion'

Just internet insurance to prevent flaming.

In my case, I have a CP, so my advice may be a bit skewed, but it's something you should consider if you were to upgrade to CP, or get a new PRO.

The orion is really not strong enough to really bear out the brunt of the CP weight demands. I've heard it's 'fair', but nothing great. I decided to bite the bullet and went straight to a brushless Hacker B20-31S.

In that event, a 3 Cell LiPo is best; intense power, and duration. (based on gearing)

Buying a 2 Cell now wouldn't be 'bad' persay, but, buying it with an orion, if you ever intend on moving past, might be a bit limiting....

Rotor Up!

That's generally what everyone is saying; the 3 cells will be a powerhouse on the 310 or 295, and give you the longevity with the pack so that if (more like when ) you upgrade to a CP or Pro model, you'll have the power pack ready to move right over. As it's been said though, expect to move up to the pro tail motor; the stock won't handle the voltage surges from a 3Cell LiPo for long...

Or, if you're an addict, you'll just buy another heli, set it up, and move the battery pack back and forth

(yes, it's all a conspiracy to get you to buy more heli stuff! LOL )

Why not? You can just add another cell at any time can't you? I'd be more inclined to see how I fared with 2 and then upgrade if I needed to.
