tonight i tried my picc again after having it apart for a couple of nights whilst i have been painting some bits on it.
i plugged the batt in and the piccoboard did everything it should do. got the rotors going and got a few inches into the air and then the tail motor started glitching then it flew fine but only for a short period of time, it could have been due to the fact the batteries didnt charge properly. anyway i plugged in a freshly charged nicd pack and resumed takeoff position and got the rotors going and the tail rotor didnt want to work so i picked the heli up and wiggled the terminals on the piccoboard and where they join together near the boom and i touched the motor and it just went full power to the main rotors. now every time i plug the batt in the main motor spins full throttle and the tail motor doesnt work. im crap with electronics any ideas?????????????(help) |

FF,
After you have started the Piccoboard. If you apply rudder to get the tail motor to run on its own. a) does it run? b) is there any servo glitching? c) have you got a spare tail motor? If it is a) see c) If it is b) I had the same problem and soldered a capacitor across the tail motor terminals and that fixed the glitching If c) is no... Sorry, If yes, try changing it. ------------------ Tim G-TAW Have a look at My Pic Pics Page |

Can you test the motor on a battery to see if it is knackered!
I wouldn't use a Piccolo pack just a couple of AA batteries, just to see if it will move. If it does run, check all the connections from the Picoboard, it may be that you have a losse or bad solder joint. (Hopefully) ------------------ Tim G-TAW Have a look at My Pic Pics Page |

it runs
i tried it with a single 600mah nicd cell. i will try some different wires to the tail motor tomorrow. i had to cut the wires to remove the tail boom after i glued it in and had to solder them back together. is carbon a good electrical conductor cos one of the wires in the boom had a bare solder joint ???? |

FF,
Carbon is a conductor, so if you must insulate any bare wires. This is probably shorting something out and driving your RX crazy, hence the full power to the main motor. Hope you get it sorted. ------------------ Tim G-TAW Have a look at My Pic Pics Page |

Never let a bare wire tuch any part of the Piccolo. It will create glitching and could damage the board

i have just remover the piccoboard from the picc,
was looking for the usual black or melted components but there wasnt any. underneath the piccoboard sticker there is a large rectangular component (under the sens pot) with what looks like blue liquid over it. what the heck is this?? |
