Default A question about flybar adjustment

While trying to get things better balanced and trimmed I noticed there is about a quarter inch of movement in my flybar. That is along the same axis as the flybar itself. Is this ok or should I snug up the linkage on both sides of the blade holders? Also does anyone know where I could get some better adjustment linkages for the rotor head? I broke a wire one and it seems to be an odd dimension. I couldn't get a close match from the local hobby shop and had to settle for some of a slightly smaller size which doesn't help in trying to get things nicely balanced.
Thanks,John

if iunderstand your description of the play in the fb correctly, a 1/4 " is way too much. it should have 1-1.5mm play at the most. it mustn't bind and should be free to move.

i use the music wire and z bend pliers to make the servo links and they work perfect. it may take a few tries to get them exactly the right length.heres a picture of them: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?...412&p=46489849

they're a little lighter than the stock ones (no V bend).

will p and others have made some adjustable links and you should be able to find them by performing a search on this bbs.

I Adjusted the flybar links and it was really excellent then I landed hard (concrete floor) and had to re-adjust everything. That got rid of the vibration problem I was trying to figure out too. The balance and trim seems to be a very fussy thing.
Thanks,John

Hi johnN/Can,

When you get your flybar links set correctly, a drop of CA will hold them in place much better than the nuts/bolts alone. If you ever need to remove the links again the CA will allow this.

As a temporary measure (which lasted me around 500 flights) I used paperclips to replace broken "pushrods". Not pretty, but functional.

Tony.

Use thick CA and watch out for not gluing the flybar to the head. Don't ask me how I know...

It didn't occur to me that the flybar shaft could move but that explains why I have to retrim when the rotor head pops off.
TW; I was blaming the wire push rods but if paperclips work....

I assure you, paperclips "do" work. They just look tacky.
