Default Micro Soldering tips

Ok Ok i'll do a seperate tail ESC [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] But first i want to practice. Does anyone know where to get everything i would need to learn how to micro solder? if i just practice on any old chip will that be fine?

to solder surface mount you need good eyesight and a very small tip on your iron......practice on the PCB out of pretty much anything mass manufactured, maybe an old walkman or anything similar - when your happy then go for it on your piccoboard........Personally I decided against doing this as you can buy a good few tailmotors for the £120 price of a PB + here...........

try and set up some kind of magnification and lighting rig, im 19 and have 20 20 vision and struggled to see what i was doing when replacing fets.

this is a tip i saw on the internet.
someone wired a 1.5mm copperwire around his tip of his solder iron tip to create a smaller solder iron point.
if you want a smaller one you can always sand it to create a smaller one.
also take a iron with a low wattage (i don't now if i translate it right).
take for example a 10watt solder iron.
