i can fly for around ten minutes with my 2 cell e-tech pack . then i can run in the ground effect for about another 5min or so. my question is when i dont have enough power to lift off anynore i checked the voltage on my liths and they read 7.30 volts. is that normal? it seemed high to me.

That's probably NOT under load. The under load voltage will be much lower. I'd advise you not to skate around in GE with Lithiums. The fact that you can't get out of GE is a good enough sign for you to stop flying. Remember, take a 2-cell pack below 6v under load and you'll start to damage it. Basically, when your heli enters GE, stop flying and charge your pack. |

It's possible .... how many mAh go into the pack after a charge normally? Or doesn't your charger state that?

Check to see if the voltage of each cell is within 0.05v of each other ...

I get the following with my 1300mah Thunder Power packs - Take off & fly at any height for about 3 mins & then the Pic decends to a "pocket" about 1 foot off the groungd & sits there for another 3 mins & then drops into ground effect - All seems a bit short to me?

I would say your Orion with a 9 tooth pinion is way too hot a set-up, especially if you haven't cut your blades, causing you to hover at too low a throttle (voltage) and you're sucking the battery dry in no time, possibly exceeding the cells limits to deliver current and/or an associated hot motor.
I'd recommend at least an 8x3x5 cut (some use an 8x3x15 cut) on the blades and an 8 tooth pinion. |
