Default Floppy Drive motors?

Would the motor from a floppy drive work instead of a Cd-rom motor? i have some computer class after school and the teacher said he's got a ton of floppy drives lying in the back of his room collecting dust, so I got an idea.

I took a peek inside my floppy drive through tho front slot and it looks to be just like one of the CD-rom ones.

The one I took apart has a motor about an inch and a half across, might be very interesting as a direct drive main rotor experiment though.
