Default Right, Let\'s Start Again...

Hi Folks,

After a few weeks calming period, I think it's about time to think about getting my Pic back in the air! It all went horribly wrong at Risca a while back when my Pic decided to shed her rotors about twenty-odd feet up while trying to recover from a particularly dodgy pirrouette. The resulting free-fall without parachute was quite spectacular and gained the 'ooh's' and 'ahh's' of several people around there (and a few 'look out!!!'s IIRC) - ask Mike_Y or James, they'll back me up!

Anyway, the resulting carnage was scooped up and thrown into a box, which was only opened several days later. Turns out that, as you can imagine, there are electronic problems, so I thought I'd take the oportunity to look at going seperates. Now, after several weeks to cool down, I can start to think about what I'll need to order (and how much I need to spend!).

Can I use the receiver part of the piccoboard, or is that false economy? I seem to remember something about GWS-50 and GWS-100 speed controlers?

Anyway, advice would be greatly appreciated, bearing in mind I'm obviously not at the stage of doing comfortable pirrouettes, so don't really need top-end stuff!

Thanks in advance!

Lloydy

the reciever part of the piccoboard is really not that bad. I got a gws rx when I went seperates, but soon ripped the rx off the piccoboard assembly and used that because the gws gave me nothing but trouble. I only get occasional glitches when I fly too close to the triton while its charging.

I did much the same thing a few weeks ago - a freefall drop from about 15ft followed by a piccoboard which wouldnt initialise.

I bought GWS ICS-50, GWS ICS-100 and a CSM HLG200 gyro and used the Receiver from the piccoboard. Im also using 3cell 1200 lithiums and a pro tail motor. Although it will fly reasonably well now, I do get a "pulsing" from the tail motor. Dont know if this is the gyro gain (which I have tried playing with) or some kind of interference. Any ideas ?

The csm is designed for a cp heli with shaft or belt driven tail. With fp, it gets constant changes in headspeed which in turn make it work more, and therefore the tail twitches a little. Nothing you can do about it but learn to fly and cope with!!! If you keep the heli at hover you will notice the "twitching" sortof disappears!
Tim go GWS 50 and 100 for the ESC's and the CSM200 gyro, Good cheap seperates! i have flown like this for 6 months now and no problems at all!

Airwolfie,

So if the CSM 200 is designed for or prefers a CP heli, is there a gyro thats works nicely with hte FP ? Please dont say the Piccoboard !

lol no!!!
Basically the CSM200 is perfect for the job so don't worry about it!! I think all gyro's are different and also the 200 is a hh gyro. you could try other ones but i'm very happy with the 200 for its price definately worth it!!!
just get the one that has been lightened!

Thanks for all the replies guys

I guess I now know which way I need to go. £58 for the gyro is a bit of a bummer, but the ESC's seem cheap enough.

Any chance someone with this setup could post a pic of how they've got it all mounted?

Thanks again,

Lloydy
