CD Rom Drive

I Just bought a cd-rom drive from eBay, 40 speed Memorex. Hope this is going to be ok to use the motor in my picc. after I find out how to modifiy it. It only cost me £1.40 so no great loss if it will not work. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif[/img]

Should do great! You never know, with the speed of that drive you may not even need to replace the magnets! Ask as many questions as you want when it arrives! Is there any way of knowing if I need to replace magnets and re-wind before I take it apart?

Not really no! Just get yer screwdrier out and start hacking! [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] You'll almost certainly have to rewind it as they aren't designed to spin at the speeds required by our Pics ...

errrmmm - there is one way of telling.... stick it in the pic before you hack it apart and see if it flys OK without getting hot and giving plenty of power [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]
