Default H8 SENSORLESS BRUSHLESS MOTOR J. PERKINS

Hi
I have a Eco 8 with a sports motor and want to upgrade to a brushless motor. I am thinking of getting the new H8 brushless motor from J Perkins but would like to know what speed controller to use, Perkins recommend a Schulze or Kontronic but do not say what model nos.
I have many 8 cell packs so would like to use 8 cells so what pinion should i use and is it a 5mm shaft.

Many thanks Peter....

Or a Castle Creations from Aircraft World for a lot less money? They would all be OK. The main features that would be useful are soft start and governer mode. You might also want Lipo voltage adjustment if you would be using a BEC.

I have an H8 with a Kontronik 40-6-12 Esc. I'm running a 10 cell 3300 packk with a 22 pinion. Works great for me. Someone around here has a link to a pinion calculator in their signature, but I can't remember who, and I haven't copied the link anywhere.

Just get any controller with at least a 45 amp continuous current and 55 to 60 amps max current.

The Schulzes and Kontroniks are very nice for the H8 and so are the Phoenix and the Hacker.

Use a 24T if you are using an 8 cell pack and don't expect to do anything but hovering and forward flight.

Thats not a good idea. Not any controller works with the H8.
Kontronik Smile as example and other too !!!
Direct information from Kontronik !
Actual Jazz controllers works good.

I have a Schulze 18.46k. I like it a lot. It's got a very smooth start up.

I've just ordered a Jazz 40-6-18 to go with the H8 I bought yesterday. Cost plenty here in the UK. Are you now saying that this will be under-rated for the H8?

That's what I am running with 3s3p lipos. I can fly for about 30 minutes and the ESC never even gets warm. You will love the startup!
