I managed to salvage 6 PCs from my school that they were throwing out (I may get another one if I go in to get it), and each of them has a super cute 145W power unit in it capable of giving out 12v at 4.5A. Here's a pic!
![]() Converting them to give out 12v is really simple - connect green to a black, put a load across a red and a black, and connect a terminal block to a black and a yellow! If anyone wants one I'd be happy to convert one and sell it at something like £5 - £10 (excluding shipping). Let me know if you're interested. |

I do computer work so those are dime a dozen. When I get a new digital camra I'll show you my latest ATX creation with all the bells!!! Also I'll make anyone one for cheap (like $10) if you send me an AT or ATX power supply. I also paint & air brush them! |

Hogster,

These are by far the best instructions around IMO:
http://www.marcee.org/Articles/PCPowerSupply.htm but these are quite good too .... albeit for only one type of charger. http://web2.murraystate.edu/andy.bat...owersupply.htm |

Make us a power supply that produces a good solid 12volt for my kookam charger and you can have your tenner plus actual p&p costs. Just promise me you wont spend hte money on drugs and loose women and only micro heli parts.
b.t.w curious to know what you will be spending the cash on if you do sell a few |

Well I've just done a highly technical test (not!) and these little power supplies can power a 50W 12V Halogen lamp at 11.7v, without any load on the 5V line! It can also just about handle a 75W lamp on the 12V line without a load on the 5V line!!
They're more muscley than they look these little PSUs! ![]() Click to enlarge! I've got a question for you guys - why do you need a load on the 5v line? Cheers! |
