Hi guys...
Thanks for all of the suggestions...my CSM gyro is continuing to give me fits despite my best efforts. I made a little video (fairly bad quality) to show what it's doing. The heli will fly fine for a few seconds, then yaw counterclockwise and when I try to correct by moving the stick to the right it just slows it down so that when I move the stick back to center, it spins out of control...check it out... Piccolo Problem Any ideas? How about a different HH gyro that would be light enough to still use with 2 cells? Thanks! |

Make sure that the rudder trim and subtrim are centered prior to initialization. If not, try centering them and try it. If they are, try moving the rudder trim a ways in each direction prior to initialization. The HLG200 has a limited range and you may be too far to one side to allow the same throttle travel in both directions.
You could also have a slipping tail pinion. That will cause the same symptom. Try it while holding it.... can you get adequate tail reaction while manually yawing the heli in both directions? Does the reaction change over time? |

Hmm...that's an interesting thought about the range of travel. I am definitely certain that the tail reaction is adequate and the pinion isn't slipping. I get get excellent tail response while the heli is on the ground throughout the duration of the battery. When it starts to yaw CCW, I move the stick essentially all the way over to the right and the motor RPM just will not increase. Thanks for the advice!

Well, I have no idea at this point other than defective gyro. I have tried another transmitter and receiver and I still get weird results. The thing usually works ok for anywhere between 2 and 20 seconds and then goes into a slow CCW pirouette which full right stick doesn't do anything about. The tail rotor RPM will not increase when this happens so I don't think it's a pinion problem. On the ground, the tail rotor will happily push it in circles with training gear on operating on the carpet.
