OT: Transit of Venus

Thought some of you might be interested in this, so I decided to post some photos.

As some of you may know, I work in a University research group. It's quite handy being in solar physics, since we've already got a sun-tracking instrument on the roof so all we had to do was strap a projector to the mount and stick a piece of cardboard in to image onto.

Here's the first one. Unfortunately, the camera hasn't time stamped the files properly so I don't have a time index. Might be able to extract the info when I get them into some better software though.

And finally number three, near the end. This one is a little fuzzy since it had started to cloud over:

It was too sodding cloudy here.... I had prepared by bringing in my mega powerful air-rifle scope to work, and setting it up in the car park. I didn't get to see any of it, despite spending most of the morning not doing any work, and checking it!

Oh well, maybe next time!

Had to rely on some welding glasses but we had sunshine all morning down here. Tried to take some pictures with the digi camera but couldn't see the black spot on them........
