Default Motors 295 or 310

My piccolo has a 290 motor on it and I haven't flown it in a while. I got a hornet since then and the power difference is unreal. This piccolo has no vibration, everthing tracks great, and the flight timeds are well over 6 min. But the darn thing will not climb over 6 feet in the air. It is like there is not enough rpms to get it up in the air. I bought it used so I have no idea about run time on the motot. The local hobby shop has a 290 motor, but I was wondering if the other motor (310, I think) would be that much beter. Is the difference between the two, like night and day.? I have also oiled everything. I appreciate the input

Chad

6 min on 250 nicd is considered pretty good. It sounds like your running the 8 tooth. switch to the 9 or 10 tooth. Have the blades been cut?

If its still not enough, switch to an 8-cell pack w/9 tooth. I fly 7 and 8 packs depending on my mood.

The blades are stock. Havn't cut them but I got some of robert's blades in shipping so I was contimplating this to get the rpms up. I did'nt know if cutting the blades or getting the bigger motor was the ansewer! The flight times rival that of the hornet. This is not the problem. It stays airborn for the whole flight but just doesn't have the power to get out of trouble or gain altitude over about 7 feet. But it does fly and fly smoothly. It is also normal weight. I just got J's mods on it. I don't know what is going on!

If you don't want to change the pitch (more) go to a bigger pinion.

I guess 6 min is on 7x720mAh?

yep, move up on the main motor pinions.

even with an 8 tooth my friend's pic flys and he has a bunch of mods and a BRASS tail boom and that thing still goes up over 20 ft.

btw what elevation do you live at?
