Default battery talk

I have been trying out my new polyquest 1100mAh batteries, and I must say, if you are going for lipos go for this capacity over the 700mAH. It has made a great help with the balance - I could not balance the heli with the 700's too light! They also have enough capacity to fly for a while.

PS, I also landed properly for one of the first times - I can fly, just not land

So does this mean the elastic band count will stop climbing

Hopefully keeping on topic, I have been thinking about finally making the leap to Liths and have two questions.

1. where is the best place for a preassembled 2 cell for not too many £'s that will plug straight in to my Pic.

2. best dedicated lith charger for not too many £'s, I'm not really interested in chargers like the Triton as I already have a Nicad charger, and its too expensive for my budget.

Apologies in advance if I am hijacking your thread, but as it said battery talk I thought it was as good as any place to raise the question.

I guess I should probably have aimed this question at Gonzo, as the charger on his site for about £23 but he hasn't got any preassembled pack prices up yet.

If your out there Gonzo can you give us any rough idea please

the cheapest place for batteries is the states. I got mine from www.cheapbatterypacks.com, they do a dodgy with the customs as well but wont advertise that here, if you want info PM me.

Gonzo does make the packs for you and there is a comment on his site to add x amount if you want the pack made by him.

The prodigy charger is only 50 odd quid and does all cells, sell your other charger and get one of those. But to be fair i did use a Westek charger for about 6 months with no issues and that was only about 30 quid.

best batteries is debatable as it depends what you want to do, hard 3d type stuff where weight is an issue but you get less duration or loads of duration but no hard flying or somewhere in between.

If you want light try the 20c 3s2p 340's (680 in total), or any cell under 1000MAh really.

If you want duration go for 1200-1400Mahs

iRate (apogee), thunder power are the better cells at the moment.

Kokhams (apart from the 340's) and Etechs are not as highly rated but will do the job.

There is some interseting reading about high discharge cells life span on RCgroups if your interested.

For quick delivery in the UK, try www.electricflight.co.uk.

The e-tech 1200 or 1250s, and the polyquest 880s are suitable for a Piccolo.

Cheers Scoot and Bodge, As I only have a FP I am only looking for better duration than I get from my Nicads and I only realy want a dirt cheap but reliable charger, I have had a look at Midland and Eflight but I must admit its all a bit confusing, I know as with most things its probably all down to personal choice, but if someone can say that this pack or that would be ideal for longer flights with out going brushless and all the extra cost involved, and plug and go would be excellent.

I still have the picoboard and the standard motor and I want a 2cell pack that will plug in and let me fly without frying the motor, Oh I have a spare carbon brushed tail motor so that will be fine.

I reckon you ought to try some 2 cell PolyQuest 880s, or possibly 1100s if your heli is reasonably light. Any lipo charger will be fine. Just bear in mind that LiPos are very light, so you may need to experiment with mounting ideas in order to get the CG right.

Well I dont have scales but the weight wont be that different from stock Ive listed the only mods in my sig, and I can always whack a bit of lead upfront for ballast

Best stockists for these polyquests and what is the difference between 880's and 1100's ?
Sorry if I sound a bit dim but electrics are not realy my forte

www.electricflight.co.uk

880mah compared to 1100mah is the capacity

It is also relative to size the higher the capacity then generally the larger and heavier the cell.
