Default 3 Cell Lipo operation with a Piccoboard+

I'd like to know the Ikarus view
Is the BEC on a Piccoboard rated to run on 3 cells ?

Concerns are the BEC IC could overheat, lower the 5V line
reducing the drive voltage to the output FET's
and cause a BEC or FET failure.

Is it safe to use 3 cell Lipo packs on a Piccolo V2 ?

bump.
Another question
The board has a LVC (low voltage cut-off )
Does it monitor the input voltage or the BEC line ?

If it's monitoring the 5V bec output
will it shutdown the motor drives if the BEC
goes into thermal shutdown, therefore protecting the FET's
from damage due to linear operation ?

no it wont protect the fets, when the bec over heats it will send the fets into burnout (because the logic voltage drops) the result burnt out fets!

My pro board had a problem just after i started using 11.1v lipos but the damage was not consistant with over volts problems. but my other board has had no problems.

hope that helps

Not really,but thanks anyway

We need an answer from Ikarus on this one

Another question could be :-
Why do they supply pitch rings to reduce lift for the V2
When it won't fly with them fitted ?

Does it NEED 3 cells to use them ??

im using the pitch disks with no problems on 3 cells. 2cells is a other story..
see the pitch disks as cut blades if you cut them to much it wont lift of.

The Piccoboard Plus can be operated with 3 cell LiPos in an ECO Piccolo V2. When using a FUN or the older verison of the ECO Piccolo the G310L motor is required.
There is no low voltage cut off on the Piccoboard.
The Piccolo will by flyable down to approx. 7.8 V. This
voltage should be save for 3 LiPo cells. Nevertheless check the specs of the LiPo cell manufacturer as they may vary.
