Default Aerofly Simulator ver # 1.9.1.3

I have just purchased and installed the above package on one of my Computers which gives me the choice of either a WIN XP or Windows VISTA O/S. While the software operates as intended and the system talks to the USB adapter it does not find the TX. This is a new Spektrum DX7 and while the suppliers Web page (Hobby Lobby USA) indicates that it is compatible with Spektrum equipment this is not mentioned in the manual.
In addition there is a new Y-cable in the package with the one leg (square plug) meant for a FUTABA TX, with the other leg a traditional mono plug for some of the JR TX's. This new cable item is also not mentioned in the manual.
The main USB cable has a stereo plug on the TX end which is compatible with the Trainee socket on the Spektrum TX.
I have tried all the various modes on the transmitter with no success and are hoping someone can help resolve this issue for me.
As an aside an old RealFlight (ver 2) simulator package works on this computer and TX combination with no problem.
