Since I do not know which receiver is in your Piccoboard I cannot be definitive. But if the receiver is shrink wrapped to the actual Piccoboard, it is almost certainly single conversion. Any single conversion crystal for the correct channel SHOULD work.
The brand is not critical.... many people specify JR becasue JR crystals (I think) are all single conversion. ------------------ Paul Goelz pgoelz (at) eaglequest (dot) com AF010 brushless motor, 8 cell NiMh, collective pitch modification Visit my: Piccolo web page Troubleshooting guide Collective pitch Piccolo page (flybarless) Collective pitch Piccolo page (Ikarus version) Brushless motor conversion |

Hi everyone,
Well I finally have my Piccolo (yay), but I'm faced with a dilemma as my Rx crystal doesn't work with board. I have to order in the correct crystal, which will take about 6 days to get here, so I want to make sure I order the right one first time Reading through here, everyone agrees on the Piccoboard needing a single conversion rx crystal. The dilemma is that some say use JR, some say use Futaba, and others say use any single conversion rx crystal. My Picoboard is the 720673 (Futaba 72Mhz) and my radio gear is a Futaba T8UHPS. Can anyone give me a definte answer as to what type of crytal I should be ordering please? Thanks in advance, Jon |

Thanks for the reply Paul
Yes, my reciever is the Ikarus one shrink-wrapped to the Piccoboard. Currently I'm having to fly with my big 9 channel Futaba rx strapped to the Pic so you might say I'm running a bit of a weight penalty I shall go and try to track down a single conversion crystal so that I can put my Pic on a diet |

I am not certain on this but we fly 36megs here in kiwi,i thought that the 72 was reserved for the americans.
just watch out if the CIA knock on your door. i have a 36meg board and use a single conversion futaba crytsal along with my 8 uaf,i ordered a jr one to find the futaba one i had worked fine. [This message has been edited by will p2 (edited 01-01-2002).] |

Heya Will
Nah 72Mhz is legit in NZ. As is 26/27Mhz, 29Mhz, 35Mhz, 36Mhz and 40Mhz. Funnily enough I didn't realise that 29Mhz or 36Mhz were legit freqs here I actually got the radio gear here in NZ (and paid an arm and leg as a consequence - fool If you're interested in the avail freqs here there is a handy chart at http://members.tripod.com/~NZMAA/freqs_01.txt Could also be handy for any of our overseas friends planning on taking their Pics for a holiday to NZ |

I am not a tech. but my Pic is almost 2yrs old and I had Xal problems when I got it . Found that only a Futaba Xal would work with the picoboard marked for Futaba.

Bob,
Then there must have been something else going on. The brand of crystal has NOTHING to do with the shift direction, which is the ONLY reason we specify transmitter brands in the first place. A Futaba, Hitec, JR or Berg (from RC-Direct) should all work as long as they are for the correct channel AND are made for a single conversion receiver. ------------------ Paul Goelz pgoelz (at) eaglequest (dot) com AF010 brushless motor, 8 cell NiMh, collective pitch modification Visit my: Piccolo web page Troubleshooting guide Collective pitch Piccolo page (flybarless) Collective pitch Piccolo page (Ikarus version) Brushless motor conversion |
