I think Piccolo's are one of the few heli's you can let your friends try LMH 110 is a tank though!!

I've had nothing but crashes so far = P
Well I've had a 8 second hover the other day and today several nice 6-7 second hovers. I moved some furniture out of the room and had better luck. Even got a picture of me hovering almost in control. http://www.houseofphotography.com/flight.htm near the bottom. Had good luck and instead of breaking things in the rotor area (I've installed some nice metal mods) I'm now braking things on the bottom. (that's good right?) It means I'm at least crashing right-side-up! I took out my landing gear today. And I'm totally perturbed with the way the battery mounts. My battery mount mod came out after a few crashes. I need some options for landing gear mods. I've seen a few, but now that I'm in need - I have to find the best options and make a selection. I'm gounded until I can get some LG setup again. I do really like the Mods from Pierre, See my "mods" page... as I took some close up pictures of them installed. (so many pics on sites are out of focus) so mine are pretty nice. So what landing gear should I get? something RUGGED! |

Do your self a favor and get some a landing gear from MIA. They are made from piano wire and come with nice mounts. You could make them you self but not as nice. And for $5 you cant beat it.

I have had to many crashes to count or even recall. In reply to Pauls post I have broken a stock plastic blade. All that happened was it got out of control and tipped over on the concreate. The blade broke off right at the base leaving a tiny sliver left still bolted to the head. Of course this was A LONG TIME AGO when I couldn't fly very well
It seems, from what I've experienced anyway, that the huge crashes that look really bad don't really damage much, but the small little crashes(like tipovers) cause major damage. The Piccolo is a very unique helicopter. Thanks Brian Bills [ 03 March 2002, 06:43: Message edited by: Brian Bills ] |

I have a 3mm square chunk missing from the tips of one of my rotors and also a 2cm crack that I patched back up. I doubt I will ever try to fly a different helicopter. I don't think anything else could handle the abuse my poor little bird gets.

Speaking of crashes, I pulled a good one this morning, scared the bejesus out of me. I was doing figure 8's in the basement, and misjudged the distance and flew right into a steel pole. I thought I'd be repairing it for the next week and ordering another shot of parts. But when I got there, the head just came off and the fly bar needed readjusting, there wasn't even a dent in the blades... Nothing like flying around obstacles to keep you on edge...

My worst Piccolo crash:
While flying over the top of our house roof trying to jump over an elctricity wire in front of the house my tail motor failed !!! The Piccolo became crazy and hit a wall and the ground --> only an undercarriage struts broken !! The height was about 6 meter A proof of the crash resistance of the Piccolo ! Best regards Nath |
