They sell fuselages for this kit...I don't know how much they weigh...but I think it simply reduces the flight time you will experience at about 1 second/extra gram.
I have owned the eco for about 1.5 years and in that time batteries have improved...better....cheaper...so maybe you can carry something. ------------------ Robert Harker "Facts are stubborn things" "Flying is heavenly ...hovering divine...electric is ecstatic! |

Hi,
I just measured the maximum payload for my Piccolo. I could fly the Piccolo with a total weight of 347 grms. With "flying" I mean controlled hovering in the middle of the room, not just near ground. With an additional payload of 30 grms, I could not lift up. So the limit is between 347 grms and 377 grms. The normal weight of my Piccolo is exactly 230 g, including 7 Panasonic NC akku cells. Therefore, you can fly with a payload of at least 117 grms or more than 50% of its own weight. ------------------ Konrad Mayer Vienna, Austria [This message has been edited by Konrad Mayer (edited 12-13-1999).] |

Hi, all pent7s,
I tested how long I can fly with my Piccolo with 100 g extra payload and the 7 cell Panasonic NC battery, 250mAh. The battery was in best condition, fully charged and warm. The total weight was exactly 330 gram. The time of hovering was about 2 minutes, but only the first 45 seconds above ground effect in a height of 2 to 5 feet. The remaining time, I had to fly near ground. Certainly, this would be much better with an 8 cell battery, because after 2 minutes, the battery was not empty, but the voltage was too low. The Piccolo was complete with the canopy, but I have no extra fusselage. The weight of the IKARUS canopy is only 6 gram. If you want to build an extra fusselage, I recomend to use an 8 cell battery. I built a very simple, funny training canopy consisting of a small sheet of paper. The weight is less than 2 gram and it took less than 5 minutes to make it. The advantage is, you can change the battery and you need not dismount and mount the canopy. A new picture of the canopy and the Piccolo with 100 gram payload can be found in the eheli newsgroup in the "vault", but I can also send the images on request. ------------------ Konrad |

Konrad,
Nice paper canopy!! After seeing yours I made one from "post it note" paper. I put a hole in it to see the Piccolo board red light. J |
