Default Replacement main motor

I'd like to rule out my main motor as the cause of my EXTREMELY short flight times...What's a good motor to replace the stock motor? I'm using a stock setup (no brushless, no seperates, etc...). I'd like to just go to my LHS and pick one up rather than order one. Will a standard S300 do?

Actually, a standard speed 280 is what most people use to replace their stock G-295. From what I have read, flight proformance is the same between the G-295 and speed 280.

I think that a speed 300 would be overkill.

A Speed 300 will not work and may blow up your Picoboard! Its Kv is much too high for use in a Picollo- RPM is too high for any gear combination and it draws a LOT of current.

A stock speed 280 will work just fine, that's what I have been using for several months. You may lose a little RPM compared to the 295, but not enough to really matter.

So with a 280 I might lose a little "Power", but it shouldn't affect flight duration, correct?

I wouldn't expect much change in duration. When I went to the 280 my duration actually increased, but at that point my 295 was totally worn out- front bushing was incredibly loose. The 280 is definitely the cheap, easy replacement. I plan to install an Orion soon.

Get an Orion Elite Modified. More power, smaller & lighter. The chrome finishing looks cool too

I can use the Orion with the stock Piccolo setup? It's a simple "take the old one out, put the new one in" change? Do I have to buy new pinions or anything?

You can replace the motor, but are you sure it will fix your problem of short flying times? I would look some other things (batteries, pinion etc). It might save you a few bucks...Tom Sends!
