Default Next model to buy

Looking ahead to what I'm gonna buy next, I'm torn between getting an ECO 16 or a Raptor. I like the Piccolo, but want to try out a collective pitch heli, and don't really feel like getting the CP upgrade for the Piccolo. I'd rather keep my Piccolo FP and get something else, but I can't decide if my next model should be electric or gas powered. With gas powered heli's, how long are flight times compared to electric? A lot more? The ECO 16 sounds like it will deliever all the power that gas does, so I wonder if I should get it instead of a Raptor.

Chris, flight times in standard trim are longer than you would want to be flying for if you're a beginner like me.(15 to 20 minutes). I have a FP piccolo and a Raptor. I bought the Piccolo mainly to practice during the winter, but when I can get to the field and fly my Raptor I'm in heaven. (All assuming I take it home in one piece).

If you want something more in electrics try the Voyager E. Flies in most any wind and won't 3d as standard but is a lot of fun.

I have a FP Picc, CP Picc and a .30 CP Nexus. Flying the Nexus is great although pretty much everyone else at my (heli-only) club flies Raptors or Robbe Millenium helis. It is a completely different 'feel' flying an i/c heli to a micro electric. Less twitchy and more controllable.

Despite this I have researched near-30 size electric helis and after a lot of input am going to go for a Mikado Logo 10. Have a read of Bob Johnsons' report on wwww.skylinemodels.co.uk. I spoke to him personally and he was very impressed (and he is described as the 3D heli-god in many ads!)

My two cents...check out the crash cost of the machines and the avalibilities of parts in your area. My friend has a voyager..It's cheeper to fix than my Eco's but required more upgrades for decent flight times and authority.Raptor crash kits can be had on the web for as little as $35.. I dont buy crash kits anymore cause you dont always use it all and you can buy parts anywhere. they are easy to fix and alot of people can help you get it tuned...Untill you get to where you know a machine inside and out you kinda have to lean on the folks around you...unless your a genius..which absolutly leaves me out......Plus,, theres nothing a Raptor 30 can't do in 3D..it can run with the big dogs...If you want power 3D from an electric get a bank loan and buy a JOKER ...But....My buddy wont even let me hover his....They sound unbelieveable....ZZZZZ
Oh Yeah...Eco's are user friendly and are sweet machines..I absolutely love mine and would not trade a voyager for one..but they ARE what they ARE ....they are not sky dragsters...but it's also not uncommon to see me flying a white one under the street lights at midnight...I dont wake the neighbors and you can't do that with a Raptor!

if you want to stay electric, i would get a Mikado Logo 10. as fars as electric helis go, it's in a class of it's own. when set up properly, it'll will do anything that a Raptor can do.

I bought a Logo 10.

Awesome heli. (This thing rocks) I'm not a fan of the slimers and thought the Eco didn't offer enough for the $...

Voyager, although nice, a little pricy...

me too want to buy a second heli

at the moment if things go right I try getting a Logo10 within the next 3 days if not I get a Hornet from Sean complete but please sean send it to me with express mail since I think for the mods I need to wait for 30 days to arrive at least from my experience from Hobby lobby which took exactly 30 days to come with normail air mail while from Astro it took only 4 days maximum and was delivered to my door with Express USPS mail........
