Default X-500-3 H Motor in Eco 8 ?...

I'm about to order the eco 8, and just came the idea to use the X-500-3 H motor that way if I later decide to upgrade to the eco16 I will not have to buy another motor.
the question are:
- will it work fine.
- can I use 10 or 12 cell
- how long will it fly
- will it be any cooler then the H-250

any info appreciated,
Thanks.

Well I see your post in the Ikarus Bulletin Board... about use in Eco 8...
By your name I´m think that you are from Latin America like me, Speak Spanish?

The question are:
- will it work fine.?
Maybe I´m not sure of that, but...
Weight is very important in Eco 8 every gram is very important 160g (250-4H) vs 260g (500-3H). The other problem with weight is that 500-3H motor work from 12 cells to 16 cells. This means that your first try will be 12 cells.. (acrobatic) And I have been some problems with my Eco and Weight, when you have your Eco 8 with 2Kg or more the Heli have some problems to lift up and motors becomes hot very quick.

- can I use 10 or 12 cell?
With 10 cells 500-3H motor will turn on, but I´m sure that with this volts the power will be very low to lift up your Heli. Your start setup with this motor must be 12 cells.

- how long will it fly?
I dont know...

- will it be any cooler then the H-250?
I dont understand what you mean... but both motors have built-in cooling fan.

My recomendation:
At your own risk buy 500-3H with Eco 8 and try some cells setups, or maybe ask to Ikarus to see what answer to you, or wait to another friend in this bulleting board that have the right answer...

X500-3H has KV=1450. So, if you use 10cells(=11V), the motor run at about 11V*1450*0.78 rpm for the safe max load (here. '0.78 is the load coefficient refered in my web site ==>> brushless motor data ==>> X250-4H for ECO8). At main rotor 1350rpm, the gear ratio is roughly 19T:180T. Probably, 19-22T will be better. It should work, normally.

But, I also think that the heavy X500-3H must be use for more than 12cells for appropriate flight.

If you want heavy motor, B50-16L, 17L or 18L may be better, in the same sense as X500-3H.

Thanks everyone.

yes Gustavo I'm from Mexico.

I have almost deicide to put the X-250-4 H but have 3 questions.

- way is everyone having trouble with this motor is it really worth getting one after all the troubles that a lot of people are having with it.?

- which controller will you recommend the one from ikarus V45 or V90 or the future-45H or booster-40H from schulze.

- any other brushless motor I should consider? I had read that a lot of people are using KONTRONIK motors but which one and way?.

has anyone use the Aveox 1010/3 motor they said that you can fly 14 minutes at this link. http://www.aveox.com/1010.html

Tohru Shimizu thanks and great webpage.
do you have any more videos?

thanks in advance for any info.

gmlealll-san,

The booster40 may be better for you, I think so.

Kontronik BLxx-yy series are the same as Hacker Bx-yL/S, because Kontronik's one is OEM products by Hacker. Hacker has superfine variation of the motor coil wind. So, I like Hacker.

If you like long flight duration (not active flight), 1010/3Y may be also available. But, I think that it is not so powerful as hacker and kontronik. Previously, Aveox's Mr Orme-san said me that his magnet rotor (out of competition motors ?) is NOT balanced !! It heard stupid.

In fact, in my test of 1406/2Y and KBM42-30, which are said to have the same performance, 1406/2Y gave worse result in my Kyosho EP SR, as compared in my site.

I have just started using the X250-4 with Future 45He controller on 10 cells and 13 tooth pinion It works well. Everything stays cool.

The Future BEC is rated at 3 watts, I drive my gyro and tail servo from a separate regulator.

The designed very slow start of the Future is rather annoying and unnecessary.

I have used the Aveox 1010/3y with L260 controller with a 12 tooth pinion again with separate regulator for gyro and tail servo. The controller stays cool, but the motor gets too hot, approaching 100 C whicch will destroy the magnets. I fitted a small 14g fan and that helped.

Aveox suggested I try a 11 tooth pinion, but at presetn I will stick with X250-H and Future

Cheers

Mike

Mike-san,

How much is your main rotor rpm in the safe (no-heat problem) gear ratio of aveox1010/3Y ? I think that it may be less than 1500rpm at 8-9deg pitch and less than 1650rpm at hover pitch.

In the view of the motor constants, since 1010/3y has very large coil resistance Rm, high power cannot be expected.Instead, it may have long flight duration (because of high efficiency rate at low power range).

Please try it hacker B50-14L, B50-18S or B40-13,14L. Then, please compare it with 1010/3y and x250-4h.

In some of hacker's high power motors, the main rotor rpm exceeds 1650rpm at the hovering pitch, even in 8cells.
